Portuguese and Brazilian Studies

The Armanda Silva Prize recognizes a graduate or undergraduate student for extraordinary dedication to the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies. It is named after Ms. Armanda Silva, Academic Department Manager in the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies. Ms. Silva’s dedication and excellence made her one of the foundational pillars of the Department. The award recognizes Ms. Silva’s countless contributions to the Portuguese & Brazilian Studies academic program and to the Brown community.

The prize for service was originally established in 2010 by Luiz F. Valente as the Nelson H. Vieira Prize. It was renamed the Armanda Silva Prize in 2019.
