Visiting Professorships

The Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies offers three visiting professorships.

FLAD/Brown Visiting Professorship

Since 1993, the Luso-American Foundation (FLAD) and the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies have maintained a vibrant cooperation agreement under whose auspices Brown has hosted Visiting Professors in Portuguese Studies in the areas of Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science and History. This program is officially known as the FLAD/Brown Visiting Professorship. 

Camões/Brown Lectureship in Portuguese Literature

Sponsored by the Instituto Camões, the Camões Visiting Lecturer (Leitorado) has promoted Portuguese language and culture at Brown from 1974 to 1999. 

Fulbright Distinguished Award in Brazilian Literature at Brown University

The Fulbright Distinguished Award in Brazilian Literature at Brown University grants one award to a Brazilian scholar who will spend one academic semester researching and/or lecturing in the Fall term (September to December) or Spring term (January to May), following Brown University’s academic calendar.
