Gávea-Brown Publications

The Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies is home to Gávea-Brown Publications, which has published books and journals on Portuguese and Portuguese-American studies, including literature, art, culture and translations.

Gávea-Brown logoGávea-Brown Publications was founded in 1980 under the auspices of the Center for Portuguese and Brazilian Studies at Brown University with the purpose of making Portuguese literature and culture better known in the English-speaking world. Gávea-Brown Publications books can be found at the Brown Bookstore. In addition, we periodically work with other publishers. Gávea-Brown Publications also publishes Gávea-Brown: A Bilingual Journal of Portuguese-North American Letters and Studies.
